Representation Of Intelligence
Indonesia was the Guest of Honor in Frankfurt Book Fair 2015, to house a 2500 square meter space to display an insight journey to the nation. Lumina Group is honoured to became part of the team to develop the concept of Indonesian Pavilion.
The theme was steadily set, as “discoveries of 17.000 islands” to reveal the real identity of Indonesia. Colliding with the “Book” as the centre of event and it’s agreed that books correlated with intelligence hidden in between words, the design direction was to create representation of Indonesia’s geographical and social landscape and let the guests to discover the treasure by themselves. Set in up to date design, the pavilion implied the intelligence rather than typical archipelago culture as falsely acknowledged in general.
Lighting design posed a challenge with the “discovery” theme. Lighting is an important tool to create sense of drawn in mystery but in the same time light is also fulfil the human psychological need to find orientation.
